Ron Paul Is A Viral Marketing Genius

… Or he hired someone that fits that bill. Surely, by now, you’ve heard about ThisNovember5th.com, a web site set up by Ron Paul and his campaign staff to solicit donations for his campaign.

Update: I’ve been called out for poor research. Had I done my research properly (and perhaps not written at 1 in the morning), I would have reported that this is the work of Ron Paul supporters, which is even more amazing.

ThisNovember5th.com

The thing that makes it unique is the way he’s doing it. Instead of asking people to donate every day (and I’m sure he’s not turning those donations away), he has asked supporters to wait until November 5th, 2007 to donate. Why? He wants to set records for raising the most campaign contributions in a single day. How’s he doing? It’s 12:45 AM here. You tell me:

Ron Paul Raises Record Campaign Contributions

Ron is looking for 1,800 18,000 people to donate (on average) $100 each in this 24 hour period for a total of 1.8 Million dollars. Looking at the graph above, I think he’ll do it. Actually, I think he’ll break $3,000,000 in donations today. Hell, he’s up $20k in the 20 minutes I started writing this post. Hist marketing of this whole thing is phenomenal. Just take a look at some of the blogs and forums that have picked up (and passed on) the buzz in the last few weeks.

Made my way to the end of this post and he’s gotten another $25k. You heard my guess: $3 Million today.

    1,800 times 100 is not 1.8 million….
do a quick math check but otherwise interesting article

What’s even more incredible is that Ron Paul and his campaign staff had NOTHING TO DO WITH setting this up. It was created entirely voluntarily by everyday people who really want to see Ron Paul get elected. That’s what’s happening all over the country with Ron Paul campaigning. It is arising out of the hearts of the people, not being centrally orchestrated and pushed out by the campaign staff.

Daniel, I hadn’t even noticed my typo. That’s fixed now. Thanks.

sst: Digg members pointed this out, too. This is why I must research more before writing.

I think that it speaks more that his followers set this up, then that his campaign did. However, maybe he should look into getting some of these people on staff ;D. I’m only keeping an eye on the contenders but I’ve only lightly heard of him and know of nothing that he stands for. So far this is the only thing that’s given me an inclination to go and look him up.

Correction, I think that it speaks more that his followers set this up, then IF his campaign did

The American people are speaking out and wish to be heard. When the media begins to censor not just Ron Pauls message, but the american peoples message we are in deep trouble and we know this. Stand together Americans and lets take our country back for our children and grandchildren. Its a new year and we need a new beginning for our nation. God Bless America and Happy New Year everyone! : )
