Brian Clark : Digg is Dead

Brian Clark of CopyBlogger is pissed. He claims Digg is now auto-burying any CopyBlogger articles, and that would have me pissed, too.

Buried by Digg

Digg certainly played a part in that. Mostly, landing on the Digg front page a couple times a month resulted only in a server-shaking stampede of worthless traffic. But mixed in with the basement-dwelling little boys who momentarily refrained from Playstationing with their Wiis long enough to tell me I sucked, I picked up new subscribers.

Ouch. Harsh words, Brian. But if he’s right, then they may not be too harsh. He’s not the first to have words with Digg. Techipedia wrote this open letter to Kevin Rose, Digg founder, and Marketing Pilgrim offered their thoughts earlier this year.

One thing we can be sure of, having seen problems with other socially driven sites: The majority of users will have their way in the end.

Hi, got here from your Entrecard. :-)

Personally, I find it’s easier to Stumbleupon any articles I like than to digg them.

I’m usually logged into both, but if you’re the first to stumble/digg, Stumbling is a lot easier, I agree.

I knew Digg was dead about three months ago when it became WAY too crowded with Mac and Linux fanboys.

stumbleupon is the best search tool for quality content. I never liked digg, ever! but stumbleupon search is iffy.

  5. Steven Smit Says:

    @sergey

I disagree. Digg does have some good stuff.

Another reason why i respect Sumbleupon over Digg.I posted an article in digg once and it didn’t even made the front page. Then after a week somebody posted the same article from another blog and it made the most popular pages. With stumbleupon even if you have an old article once it got rated again it will show up on other’s stumble like for 500 times. :)

I gotta love that header image :) Quite different I might say.

Digg is always doing this to someone. They like popular stories as long as they get the last word. It’s like President Bush and the signing clause.

I also just tagged you with a “Viral Links” game. You can find out the details at my post:
    http://www.stephanmiller.com/viral-links/
We will see what this does for traffic and technorati rank.

Stephan: I’ll check out that link in a minute.
